......so there I am, booted and suited, chairing a three day interview process to find the right minister for our home church. There had been about 70 expressions of interest - it's a small but progressive church, and that makes us popular. Some of them were remote and a bit wierd - One application was from someone with no Church experience but a degree in Nuclear Physics......? :s
In the end it boiled down to two, both from different countries, both felt called, both good people, both probably could have bought different things to us as a church. In the end we chose one guy, unanimously everyone agreed he was God's man, and after a lot of prayer and a very lengthy and rigorous process he has been offered the job.
Strange thing is, he saw the advert once - first time round, and couldn't apply, and then when we didn't manage to fill the post first time around, he happened to see the advert again 'by chance', andlo and behold......
Amazing really, he preached on Sunday, and it seemed like he had 'come home' he was so relaxed and excited. Ridiculous, profound wierd........and then the same God creates a totally breathtaking sunrise this morning on the M42 at about 6:30 - how on earth did he do that?? In the words of Bruce Almighty.........'now you're just showing off'
