Journeys

Posted by Katherine Weston on Friday 09 May 2008, 11:01PM

I thought I'd make a blog because I've been thinking about this all day! After a meeting which, as Robin puts it, had "God's fingerprints" all over it, I sat in the car home talking to another person who went to the meeting - possibly one of the most inspirational people I know. I've just been thinking about how we all have our own journeys with God and he gives us hurdles in life that we have to try and work through/get over. At the time it is the most horrible experience and it feels like there's no end to it yet when you look back over your experiences you realise that God was there all along and he had a plan and it really did happen for a reason. I know that if it wasn't for the person in the car last night (and a few others) I probably wouldn't still be coming to church and I wouldn't have this relationship with God. Yet I had to go through some hard stuff to get there. In a weird way, through all of that it's made my faith so much stronger because I've seen what God does and how he's worked in me. Basically, I'm just glad that God has his plan for me and he has my journey planned. It makes all the hard stuff seem worthwhile because eventually it leads you to where God wants you to be. :)

It really was the funniest weekend ever!! i think we hold a record for having 2 Sarahs in one specific group lolz. The sheep- that was the funniest moment in the whole thing- in all honesty if we had the morale of Sunday with the weather of Sat- it would have been even better! i didnt really feel at all spiritual until we reached the top of the hill- the climbing started to frustrate me!:) but no blisters! we forgot to sing God is Gone up on Sunday- but hey theres the real thing i supose:P

Footprints

As I was looking through my stuff today, I found this card that I recieved when I was confirmed and I thought I'd enlighten you all :]
I love this. It reminds me that God will always be with us, no matter what.

Footprints
'One night I had a dream.
I dreamed I was walking along the beach with God and across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonged to me and the other to God.
When the last scene of my life flashed before us I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at times along the path of life there was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of my life. This really bothered me and I questioned God about it.
"God, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk with me all the way but I noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why in times when I needed you most, you would leave me."
God replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never, never leave you during your times of trials and suffering. When you see only one set of footprints it was then that I carried you."'

Walking With God

Posted by Natalie Stanley on Wednesday 07 May 2008, 08:37PM

I was doing my practice expedition for my Duke of Edinburgh Silver award at the weekend and, no matter how tiring it was, I rather enjoyed it. Camping with my friends and roasting marshmallows on a gas cooker was only the half of it. Walking so high upon the hills, I found it very spiritual and enlightening. The secludedness added to it. On our second day of walking, when we stopped for lunch, we were talking to another group of our friends, who were also taking the award, and their leader. He was so mean! He made his group walk up a steep hill twice! Just because he wanted them to! AND he's such a hypocrite; He told us that our lunches were unhealthy because they had 200 calories, but, when we all finished and had ice-creams (in the rain! :]) he had this huuge sandwhich with about 4 sausages in it! We now call him 'evil-man' :] Anyway, back to the point. As we were walking along the top of this massive hill, we were told by our leader that we would be walking among the clouds if it was a cloudy day. When I heard that, I thought how high up we were and that it was like walking with God. I was very spiritual that day. I was thankful to be there... That is, unil we walked through a field of sheep, our group walking through at different paces. My friend Lottie and I were the first to walk through along with the two Sarah's in our group, and this one sheep comes up to us. We walked away from it and it followed us and it rammed its head into my leg twice! That was the funniest day I'd had in years.
:]
